AN early glimpse of an impending finals match-up, and a potential grand final clash is on the cards for the penultimate round of the Millewa A Grade netball campaign.
A top of the table clash between Werrimull and Bambill headlines round 14 of the season, just two weeks before the same teams go head-to-head in their qualifying final at Cardross.
A Magpies win will secure the minor premiership, while a Saints win will draw them level on points but move to the top with a superior percentage ahead of the final round.
Werrimull’s unbeaten run now sits at 11 games, which includes a draw with Bambill back in round 4, their only loss of the season so far coming against Cardross in round two after the Lions started the season on fire.
Bambill’s two losses come courtesy of the Magpies and a first round defeat at the hands of Nangiloc.
Featuring some of the best players in the competition and a number of netballers in the mix for the A Grade Dot Wilson Trophy, a big game awaits at Mildura Senior College.
In other games in the penultimate round of the season, Nangiloc and Cardross also meet in a preview of their elimination final in two weeks time, the Demons having won both head-to-head matches so far this season.
Last year’s grand finalists have won three of their past five games and will finish the home-and-away season in third place.
Cardross started with four wins in the first five rounds but haven’t been at the same level since, going 2-6 until this point.
However they secured their finals berth with a 10-goal win over Meringur last week which should release the pressure valve before that point.
Meanwhile Meringur, who have impressed many on the court this season, will aim to keep their perfect record against Gol Gol this season going when they meet at Lake Cullullerine.
It’s been a tough year for the Hawks who have gone winless, but this presents a real opportunity to open their account.
