Coomealla set sights on final

DEFENDING champions Coomealla can secure a place in the Murray Darling Golf Association pennant ladies’ final with victory on Sunday.

The NSW side have the perfect record of three wins from three matches, however two were decided by just one head-to-head contest.

The first of those was a 3-2 result against Sunday’s opponents Riverside, with four of the five round 1 contests going to the 17th or 18th holes.

With just the one squared result against Mildura, Riverside would need to win their final two match-ups to have any chance of qualifying for the final.

Mildura and Red Cliffs go head-to-head in the other contest, a result that went 4-1 in the former’s favour in round 1, but the latter are coming off a 4.5-0.5 against Riverside.

In Division 1 men, Red Cliffs and Mildura will battle to move a step closer to qualifying for the November 5 final in Robinvale.

After the duo halved their opening round contest, both sides have a win, a loss and a half to their names after three rounds/

The winner this weekend at Mildura Golf Resort will take a vital lead heading into the fifth and final round.

Coomealla are in the box seat, winning all three games so far, and victory over Riverside will make it a certainty.

Men’s Division 2 is tightly contested and Sunday’s games could determine the outlook for the the top two.

Ladder leaders Robinvale will look to keep their unblemished record intact against Riverside in a top-two battle, Merbein play Red Cliffs, Coomealla take on Mildura.

Division 3 men sees teams from either pool now play head-to-head, led by the two Red Cliffs sides coming together in an intra-club clash.
