Five centuries as runs flow

THE flow of runs in Sunraysia cricket has continued after Mildura West’s Kian Burns (112) and Coomealla Wentworth’s Colby Wade (107) became First Division centurions on Saturday.

It marks just the second occasion, and first time since 2018, that five individual players have reached triple figures in the same round of the SCA top flight.

Burns and Wade joined Gol Gol’s Wade Hancock (165 not out), Merbein’s Mark East (149 not out) and Mildura East’s Josh Bowyer (103) who reached the milestone last week.

They were almost joined by Burns’ West teammate Tom Holmes, who was bowled for 99 against Mildura East.

The last time there were five centurions in a single round was in Round 3 of the 2018/19 season, when Jarrad Armsden (Irymple), Brandon Dixon (West), Kaushik Aphale (Nichols Point), Shac Thomas (Gol Gol) and Tom Douglas (Coomealla Wentworth) all passed 100.
