SUNRAYSIA Cricket Association’s Twenty20 fundraiser on the eve of Christmas Eve was a smash hit.
A President’s XI and World XI comprising SCA stars collided at Irymple’s Henshilwood Oval in a bid to raise funds to support junior players competing in Country Week tournaments in January.
About $1600 was collected from the night, a total SCA president Mick Thomson said the association was happy with considering the time of year.
The World XI was victorious by five wickets, led by Gol Gol star Shac Thomas making an unbeaten 80 from 53 deliveries.
Mildura Settlers’ import Harvey Ault also impressed with 23 not out from 17 deliveries, as the World XI reached the President’s XI target of 136 with three-and-a-half overs to spare.
Returning Setts bowler Seamus Keogh had the best bowling figures of 3/21.
Earlier, Gol Gol duo Jeremy Barnes (27 from 13) and Wade Hancock (24 from 20) and Merbein export and current Collingwood footballer Josh Carmichael (27 from 20) also played entertaining knocks for the President’s XI.
