MILDURA Netball Association is excited to move its teams to the Mildura Sporting Precinct, after many years playing at Mansell Reserve.
Committee member Karen Martin said MNA’s grassroots winter competition would make the move to the precinct at the start of the season, with players excited to play indoors during the winter.
“The indoor stadium provides us with a temperature controlled environment,” she said.
“The stadium offers a superior playing surface. Playing on boards indoors, provides players the opportunity of a different game experience and we are hopeful that this will attract players back to netball at a grass roots level.”
Ms Martin said the competition was an opportunity for the community to enter teams for players who are wanting a social game of netball.
“This would particularly suit school teams with younger players wanting to begin their netball journey,” she said.
Games are on Tuesday nights, starting from April 26.
The junior grades are 17 & under, 15 & under, 13 & under, 11 & under, 9 & under and Net Set Go.
A senior ladies and mixed grades are also offered and will be played under the Netball Victoria Short Season program. Players are not required to have a Netball Victoria membership.
“Teams are required to supply an umpire for the season, however we invite badged or experienced umpires, who would be available to assist teams to register with the association via email,” Ms Martin said.
“MNA are endeavouring to open up the opportunity for the community to be able to participate in netball, through subsidising the team fees. Teams who played in twilight season and enter a similar team with five or more players, will receive a $100 rebate on team fees.”
