Sunday, December 12 was the inaugural Corporate Moose Par 3 Open Tournament.

What a “moose” of a day and an unbelievable response to this tournament.

A full capacity field, which was patronised by all local clubs, was absolutely incredible, it was more like a corporate day than a normal competition which saw many a “moose” running a-muck on the course.

As a 100 per cent volunteer run club, it was very rewarding to hear of the generous comments made about “The Royal” and that we are a progressive club and people can see we are making a difference. A huge thank you to all participants who entered and enjoyed the day.

Special mentions must go to Stevo Russell, Maxi Trinick, our fabulous sponsors, committee and members who helped out and to Beryl (Bezz) and daughter Janeene for cooking and riding the mule (not the “moose”) to help those thirsty men and women on the course.

Also another special mention to Rob Garioch from the Riverside Golf Club for assisting with the MiGolf handicapping system, thanks again Rob.

THIS will be the final Veterans Golf Report for 2021. Our thanks to the Sunraysia Daily for the opportunity to communicate with members on a weekly basis. The articles will recommence early in February a few weeks prior to our restart next year.

The current heat wave reminds us that the association takes a summer break and so our next event is not until next March when we will gather at the Mildura Golf Resort.

On reflection the year has been challenging due to the restrictions imposed by Covid 19. We have managed to conduct most of our events sometimes by rescheduling them but mostly by modifying our plans to comply with the regulations that were in place.

We thank all of the district clubs for their work in conducting games and to our sponsors for their continuing financial support. Of course we thank our members for continuing to compete in our events. It has meant becoming double vaccinated and adjusting to new procedures and travel restrictions that arose throughout the year.

We look forward to a more normalised 2022 when we can continue to enjoy playing with district members at all district courses. One initiative that will start next year is the issuing of name badges. In the meantime enjoy playing veterans golf at your club. Encourage others to join us at the district level.

Finally to all associated with the Sunraysia Veteran Golfers Association and their families we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep safe.
