WHEN news broke that regional Victoria would once again go into lockdown, my first thought was of the children.
What is happening in the world and what our future will look like is not only unknown but scary for many adults to think about.
So to try and make sense of it all and then to explain it to our children, it’s near impossible.
While my daughter, Grace, is not yet old enough to understand or be largely impacted by lockdown, after lockdown I am still having to find activities to keep her busy.
A visit to the park, an afternoon visiting Nana and Pop or catching up with friends are now no longer options.
In earlier lockdowns this year, I remember how panicked I felt.
Grace likes to keep busy and particularly loves the outdoors, so I found myself scanning the toy aisle in the supermarket for any craft activities suitable for her age (anything to keep her from sitting around all day just watching television). Painting, playdough, crayons – you name it, guarantee I got it.
I know I am not alone in this, as I watch the many videos and photos friends upload to social media of what their kids have been up to.
Cooking and craft have been particularly popular. It also looks like sandpits and small outdoor playgroups are quite a hit.
One friend took things to the next level, building their son their very own Olympic games outside to coincide with the Olympics.
