Red Cliffs Country Market a ‘huge success’

A ROLLING crowd of a “couple of thousand people” made their way through this month’s Red Cliffs Country Market.

Market-goers were spoilt for choice yesterday with a combination of beautiful weather and more than 100 stalls, food vans and activities making the day a “huge success”.

Committee member Janice Goulding said it was “fantastic to be back up and running” after a year-long hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“There’s quite a few safety measures we have put into place now, but it’s great to see people back here and enjoying themselves,” she said.

“There are a lot of younger-generation stallholders now, home-makers who are creating things from home and that’s great to see.

“It’s a very family-orientated market, a lot of different things for the kids to do and see.

“With Mother’s Day around the corner, I think a lot of people here are on the hunt for gifts, and there’s definitely no shortage of options for them.”

The market now runs with a COVID-safe plan in place, including signage, QR codes for checking-in, volunteers roaming the crowd in high-visibility shirts to remind people of social distancing rules, and hand sanitiser stations.
