Mildura RSL confident march will go ahead

MILDURA RSL is “confident” an ANZAC Day march will go ahead this year.

Despite initial concerns surrounding the event due to COVID-19, RSL general manager Kim Archibald has confirmed the march is now part of the plan.

“We have just submitted our application to the state government and are confident it will happen,” Mr Archibald said.

“Some elements on the day will be reduced to ensure we have an ANZAC Day but we will still have a dawn service, march and midday service.

“We are confident it will be approved which is great news for our Mildura veterans.”

Mr Archibald said the three events attract large crowd numbers and he expects this year to be no different.

“ANZAC Day is the most important day for the RSL,’ he said.

“Last year was very difficult with no march or services so it’s extremely important that veterans this year can have the march.”

Mildura City Council provided support and advice to the Mildura RSL while it was preparing its application.

“They have been very supportive in helping us get the necessary approvals and will be supporting us on the day,” Mr Archibald said.

Mildura RSL will now await the approval for the tier 2 event.
