Foodies Night Markets Mildura aims to pack in variety

FROM deep-fried Oreos to wood-fired pizzas and nachos, the Foodies Night Markets Mildura is set to please all taste buds.

For the first time the touring food market will be held in Mildura this Saturday with organisers interested in making it a regular event if successful.

Organiser Anna Ellis said she had been looking to branch out and Mildura was the perfect location.

“We hope to see between 1000 to 2000 people over the eight hours but you just never know,” she said.

“We would love to see it grow and, if accepted in the community, for it to then be held every few months.”

Ms Ellis said the “family-friendly” event aimed to give communities the opportunity to try a variety of food.

“We have a whole range of different vendors, both local and visiting, with everything from American-style burgers to loaded fries and pizza,” she said.

“Food trucks have come a long way from when they first began opening — you can now get some really nice different styles of food.

“There is a good variety, which is often different to what is offered already in each town.”

Along with plenty of food options, there will be music and a jumping castle.

Foodies Night Markets Mildura will be held on Saturday between noon and 8pm at Mildura Racing Club.

Entry is $2 per person, with part of the fee being donated to Rural Aid.
