OUYEN reclaimed top spot on the Bowls Sunraysia pennant ladder with a solid 30 shot win over Coomealla at the Dome.
Janet Vallance broke a spoke in the Tyers’ rink to win 28-15. Steve Simmonds did just enough to bring home a 21-20 win over Rod Taylor, while Sue Kelly (s), Terry Pitcher, Roy Latta and Ning Pitcher collected a 28-16 win over Adrian Barko’s rink.
Ouyen 77 (12) d Coomealla 44 (0).
Irymple recorded a solid 25 shot win over Workers. Tanner Dickson-Arthur (s), Wayne Gardner, Rob Hogan and Col Sherriff saluted with a 35-14 win, Graeme Lynch stepped up to skip Tom Hogan’s rink and kept Hogan’s Heroes on the winner’s list, defeating Roger Bray 33-14.
Ian “Butch” Pollock was the shining light for Workers with a solid 27-12 win over Matt West. Irymple 80 (10) d Workers 55 (2).
Mildura took a 13 shot lead into the break and then had to work double overtime on the run home to record a win over Merbein.
Jack Anderson kept his rink up and about to collect a 24-22 win over Keith Sharman.
Laurie McLaine had his rink pull out all stops over the last few ends to get over Chris Mitchell 26-24.
However the “Master Magician” Mark Eckel (s), Ken Yeowart, Russ Kneebone and Judy Osborne kept the house of Magic’s winning streak alive with a 32-15 shot win over Shawn Fullerton. Mildura 78 (8) d Merbein 65 (4).
In Division 2, Irymple recorded a resounding win over Nangiloc to take top spot on the ladder and open up a one game break over the rest of the top four. Irymple 75 (10) d Nangiloc 56 (2). Phil Newton (s), Gus Storer, Phil Connell and Chris Scott were the standout performers with a 31-12 win over Jamie Forte.
Red Cliffs at home were too good for Mildura, winning 85 (8) to 80 (4). Maurie Press (s), Fred Guigno, Joe Cecchi and Luke Savaidas-Milne proved the match winners with a 42-17 win over Ian Livingston.
Merbein saluted at home against Workers, recording a solid 75 (11) to 58 (1) victory. Jamie Knudsen (s), Bryce Midgley, Ron Clark and Alan Roberts led the way for the Hawks with a 31-16 win over Wayne Long.
Third Division ladder leaders Irymple moved a game clear of the field after recording an 83 (10) to 57 (2) win over Workers. Lorraine Millward (s), Anne Kellett, Rod Atkins and Terry Wright led the way with a 33-15 win over Keith Russell.
Mildura 86 (12) defeated Euston 59 (0). Joan Bunney (s), Rodger Mottram, Rowan Kolpin and Joe Dimasi did the job for the Magic with a 30-18 win over Shane Ryan.
Ouyen took the points against Underbool 70 (10) to 61 (2) in a tight encounter. Alan Floyd (s), Col Willox, Rodger Anderson and Nev Jay produced a 30-15 win over Colin Lockett.
Fourth Division battles for top spot will continue as both Coomealla and Wentworth sit a game clear of Euston. Only three points separate the top two sides. Coomealla recorded a solid 71 (10) to 56 (2) win over Irymple. Ian Gibson (s), Ian Fraser, Rod Rowe and John Terbogt recorded a solid win over Julie Lowerson’s rink 30-16 to set up the Cannons’ win.
Wentworth had a percentage boosting win over Mildura, 95 (12) to 40(0). Ivan Behsmann (s), Alan Behsmann, Rod Baird and Dianne Pumpa stoked the boiler for the Steamers with a 37-7 win over Judy Morris.
Euston continued their climb up the ladder with a seven shot win over Red Cliffs 70 (10) to 63 (2).
