Big midweek winners

WORKERS, Red Cliffs and Mildura were the big winners in round 4 of Midweek Pennant bowls.

Mildura took Irymple apart with a solid 31-shot win, 92(10) to 61(2). Ken Yeowart’s rink of Judy Osborne, Fran Richards and Rob Hanns led Ian Kellett’s rink 20-nil after 12 ends.

Kellett managed to restore the program with some better bowls from his team after the break and collected 17 shots to go down 17-42.

Mark Eckel’s rink trailed Lorraine Millward for 14 ends before Eckel’s rink of Shirley Pupillo, Corey Bettess and Glenys Yeowart took control and went away to win 26-18.

The Suns’ Graeme Phillips, Mick Legin, Julie Lowerson and George Millward fought out a tough two-shot win over Isaiah Bettess.

Red Cliffs’ Carolyn Coles fired up her quartet of Darren Robinson, Margaret McGlashan and Bruce Harford to collect a solid 31-18 win over Ouyen’s Geoff Hahnel.

That rink’s performance was enough to carry the Tigers to a two-shot win over the Two Blues, 78(8) to 76(4).

Marg Dominelli went down to Janet Vallance 24-30 and Michael Clifford lost to Sue Kelly 23-28.

Workers demonstrated solidarity among the ranks with a 35-shot win over Coomealla at the Thunder Dome, running out 82(12) to 47(0) winners.

Big winner for the Green and Gold was Dianne Smith’s rink of Fred Bacon, Kristine Archer and Ron Archer with a 33-13 win over Pam Lambert, Rob O’Brien, Coralie Lever and Kevin Savage.

Peter Bishop continued his fine form with a 23-12 win over Rob Nichols and Ken Job got over Delwyn Milner 26-22 in a tight contest.

Division 2 had some some interesting results, including Workers 3 defeating Red Cliffs 2 54(7) to 44(1).

June Spry and Joy Stevens played out a 22-all draw, and Keith Russell was too good for Graham Bamford, 32-22.

Workers 2 travelled to Underbool and collected a solid all-points win 58 to 27.

Wayne Long was the destroyer for the Green and Gold over Howard Crothers, 34-8.

Euston at home to Mildura Magic went down 34 to 64 in an all-points surrender.

Reg Gardner had his team on auto-pilot, winning 41-14 over Lina Morgan. Judy Morris collected a solid 23-20 win over Phil Cattanach.

Irymple were a touch too good for Wentworth, winning by 23 shots, 58(6) to 35(2).

The Suns’ Ian McLean had his side shining brightly as they recorded a solid 39-14 win over Dianne Pumpa.
