Mildura cafe shaking up offering with a local twist

MILKSHAKE lovers rejoice: there’s a new offering at Bobby + Me that you won’t want to miss.

The newest addition to the shipping container cafe’s menu is a Murray River Salted caramel shake, which incorporates the newly-released Murray River Salted Caramel Tim Tams.

The biscuits have a local flavour, using salt from Sunraysia’s Murray River Salt.

Bobby + Me owner Kathryn Neville was inspired to create the shake when she saw a segment about the new biscuit flavours on television.

“I saw on A Current Affair about the local Murray River Salt being in the Tim Tams, and I just thought it was awesome. I always like to promote the area because I think Mildura has a lot to offer,” she said.

Ms Neville said the shake fit perfectly with the cafe’s sweet, playful ethos.

“We always like doing quirky little ideas and stuff, and everyone loves sweet stuff. We love doing our treats, so that’s what gave me the idea – and I love salted caramel, I must admit.”

Since launching on Monday, the shakes have been a hit with customers young and old.

“They’ve been really popular, I posted it on Facebook on Monday, but they really took off on Tuesday,” Ms Neville said.

She thinks the new Tim Tam flavour should lead to a boost in tourism for Sunraysia.

“It’s good for the area, it promotes Mildura. We have a lot to offer, we’re very lucky where we live. There’s a lot to offer in Mildura – cafe life, food life, it’s a bit more of a relaxed pace than the city,” Ms Neville said.
