The show must go online for Fashion Day Out

THE AW20 Fashion Day Out is forging ahead after a tumultuous week of Mildura City Heart events being cancelled.

The popular fashion event will be available online so everyone can still gain insights into the latest trends.

“It’s quite exciting actually, it’s really made us think outside the box and come up with a solution rather than just call everything off,” Mildura City Heart manager Danielle Hobbs said.

Mildura City Heart cancelled many of its events after the Federal Government announced a ban on outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people, in the wake of the coronavirus.

Ms Hobbs said they did not want to see the AW20 Fashion Day Out meet the same fate as other events and knew it could work well in a digital format.

She said the event would now have an even greater reach through social media.

“The idea is that it will link directly back to all of the traders that are involved and it’ll be direct sales for them hopefully,” she said.

Sunraysia Daily got a sneak peak of the fashion that will appear as part of the show and can confirm there are some beautiful styles set to debut on the runway.

Fashion stylist Anika Walker said quite often certain dates and times did not suit everyone, but thanks to this new digital format many more people would be able to access the show.

Ms Walker said there were nine different sections for the runway that showcased a range of women’s and men’s fashion.

“What I’m noticing with Autumn Winter 20 is that there’s loads of colour,” she said.

This includes pinks, greens and even neutral colours such as cinnamon and rust.

A new lounge ware section has also been added into the show for the first time.

“If isolation happens this will be quite funny because people will be doing a lot of lounging around,” Ms Walker said.

The AW20 Fashion Day Out was filmed on Thursday night with Ms Walker talking to camera about the different styles on show.

It will be available to watch on Facebook and Instagram from 10am on Saturday.
