FORMER Coomealla Wentworth cricketer Kobe Smith and Merbein South’s Campbell Griffiths will square off today at the Under 19 National Cricket Championships in Perth.
Victoria Country’s Smith, who plays with Fitzroy Doncaster in Victorian Premier Cricket, and Cricket Australia XI’s Griffiths will likely each take the new ball for their side in the third-round clash at Murdoch University Sports Ground.
The pair have had quiet starts to the carnival, with Griffiths not playing the first game then taking 0/26 from seven overs against South Australia in round 2.
Smith took 2/26 from eight overs against South Australia in round 1 and then bowled five overs for 0/30 against ACT/NSW Country in round 2.
Pool games at the championships run until December 9, with semi-finals on December 11 and grand finals on December 12 to decide the final placings of the tournament.
Victoria Country sit second in Pool A with two wins from their opening two games, while Cricket Australia XI are fourth with a 1-1 record.
