A Grade
Tempy out for hat-trick
TEMPY have made the early running in the Red Cliffs Association A grade competition with two wins from two starts.
They are primed to make it three today down at Tempy, taking on a Millewa side yet to get out of the starting blocks and keep their sterling early form going.
Ryan McKay has been solid early for Tempy with the bat with 30 and 20 in his first two games, looking to carry on with a start.
Nic Monaghan (seven wickets at 6) and Ben Mole (five wickets at 4.6) are two of the top three form bowlers in the comp.
For the Millewa, Scottie Clark opened up his season with a 63 against Nursery Ridge but fell cheaply last weekend. His side will want him to fire with the bat and then play his usual role with the ball if they are to be any chance.
Ouyen Rams host South West as both sides jostle early for a spot in the top four.
South West opened their season with a loss and were unable to get on at Nursery Ridge last weekend due to the condition of the pitch, while Ouyen were 1-1 after a loss to Tempy first up and then a rebound win against Millewa.
In the round’s other game, the only A grade game in “town” at Quandong Park, Fire Brigade play Nursery Ridge on the high school oval.
B Grade
Rams look to stay on top
OUYEN Rams have started best in in this grade thus far with two wins out of the blocks and more than 100 runs more than the next best.
They have shown an ability to score quickly, last weekend blasting 4/122 from 17 overs against Millewa with Brent Morrish (50) and Keegan Keely (47) the chief destroyers.
They travel up the Calder Highway today to face Nursery Ridge, who have a win and a draw from two games.
Cardross loom as the other side looking to make their mark on the B grade. They have played one game after a round 1 bye, easily accounting for Curlwaa.
The Lions should start early favourites on form, however, due to the complexities of the schedule, their opponents South West haven’t had a game yet after two byes.
Tempy, third, aren’t far off the mark and play Millewa on the Caravan Park oval today.
Fire Brigade and Curlwaa have byes.
