Blows joins superstars in state call-up

FORMER Workers Gol Gol cricketer Makinley Blows has been included in a Victorian squad featuring teamed international superstars Ellyse Perry and Meg Lanning.

The 22-year-old, who played for the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League this summer, travelled to Sydney with the team for matches against ACT yesterday and South Australia on Tuesday.

Blows was left out of the starting XI for yesterday’s clash, but would be hoping to get a call up for the clash against South Australia.

The matches were originally scheduled to be played in Melbourne but uncertainty around state borders and a desire to see the WNCL continue on schedule saw the matches moved to New South Wales.

The Victorian team also includes another World Cup winning star in Sophie Molineux.

Blows, who was named captain of the Victorian Women’s Premier Cricket Team of the Year and won Essendon-Maribyrnong Park’s ladies club champion after scoring 825 runs and claiming 22 wickets last season, is again performing well this summer, averaging 47 with the bat and 12 with the ball.
