Red Cliffs Cricket Association Round 16

Tempy v Fire Brigade

FIRE Brigade still have a mathematical chance of sneaking into the finals with two rounds to go, but they will need everything to fall into place.

Part of that equation will be causing an upset over second-placed Tempy today.

Fire Brigade sit in fifth place, but are now two games behind fourth-placed Millewa, who won last weekend.

Fire Brigade put in a disappointing performance against Ouyen Rams, where they were skittled for just 90 in 29 overs, before Ouyen cruised past the total for the loss of just three wickets.

For Fire Brigade to win today, they will again need Jason Beard and Mark East to fire with the bat.

Tempy put in one of their worst efforts of the season last week, rolled for just 64 against Nursery Ridge, so they will be desperate to atone for that today.

South West v Nursery Ridge

IN the battle between top and bottom place, Nursery Ridge will simply try and maintain some form heading into finals when they take on winless South West today.

The ladder leaders showed their class in smashing second-placed Tempy last round, with Shannon Bowen and Craig Ross both taking 3/10. There is every chance the balanced Nursery Ridge bowling attack could again skittle the inexperienced South West line-up and make it another early finish today.

Millewa v Ouyen Rams

IN arguably the match of the round, fourth-placed Millewa can cement their place in the top four with a win at home over third-placed Ouyen.

Both teams are coming off convincing wins last round, with Ouyen especially impressive in their win over Fire Brigade. Daniel Key had a day out with the ball, snaring 5/22, and while Alex Morrish only took one wicket, his opening spell was again super tight and laid the foundation for his team’s win.

Millewa, however, have the firepower with the bat, and Chris Clark hits the game in damaging form after a quickfire 41 last week ensured his team’s big win.
