VETERANS
WE are continually promoting the benefits of being a member and it was suggested at our last meeting that we personally approach other veteran golfers and let them know.
The competition is held monthly at one of the district clubs with a low $20 entry. This is excellent value as this covers competition fees, green fees and a lunch.
The clubs provide carts for $20 making the hiring of them a real alternative to transporting your own.
We have an incentive scheme that rewards regular attendance and each event has excellent prizes for those who play well.
From this month we will include women’s competitors. To join, new members simply have to come along to our next meeting.
It’s a straightforward process. Go to the registration table where you will meet our secretary Brian and treasurer Tony, who will sign you up.
A one-off $10 nomination fee, an annual fee of $10 and $20 for the single stableford competition is all that is required.
Our next event will be held at Red Cliffs on April 6.
The recent rain was a welcome event for local golf clubs and will no doubt help improve local fairways and greens.
Let’s get behind this club and get along to Red Cliffs.

RIVERSIDE
THE women played stableford on Tuesday, with Leonie Nott winning the event.
Stableford was the competition for the men on Wednesday but the much-awaited and appreciated rain put a bit of a damper on the golf.
Here in Sunraysia we are so lucky in many ways with our sport. We do love to hear the pitter patter of rain, but as we don’t experience it as much as some areas along the coast, we have the added advantage of our sport not being interrupted or spoilt by bad weather.
The reduced field meant we ran only one division on Wednesday, but the weather didn’t put Shane Johnson off his game. \
A great round of 41 points in fairly ordinary conditions gave Johnson a very comfortable win.
David Lloyd came out the better after a countback for runner-up, against Peter Ellery, with both finishing on 33 points.
The nearest-the-pins both went the way of Graeme Southwell: 4th (330cm) and 18th (310cm).
