AFTER a break from competition due to COVID-19 restrictions, golf lovers were bursting at the seams to get back on to the fairways.

Veterans
THE district veteran golfers were expecting to travel down the Calder Highway to enjoy a visit to the Ouyen Golf Club on Monday.
It is a annual event that we look forward to because we always receive a warm welcome from the locals and have the unique and challenging experience of playing sand scrapes.
In the Mallee we enjoy mild winters with many sunny days and often have the weather bureau’s highest temperatures forecast in the state.
However, there has been be a downside. Unfortunately, we won’t be making that trip this year and it’s not due to any COVID-19 restrictions. It’s the lack of consistent rainfall that has meant that the 18 holes on the course are not in use.
Hopefully, it is only a postponement and that the vets have an opportunity to play later in the year – weather permitting.
We will keep in contact with the club and will make an announcement about this day in the near future.
Therefore we have to wait until Monday, July 5, before our next district game. It’s 4BBB Stableford at the Red Cliffs Golf Club. The expectation is that we will have a regular event rather than the social game imposed on us last month because of the COVID requirements. That means prizes and NTP competitions. There will be a lunch supplied as usual. Remember we have changed the venue for July so don’t rely on your syllabus for accurate information.
Wentworth
SUNDAY’s stroke competition went to the wire with Garry Bourke (74) winning from Tom Clark on countback.
NTP was: Howard Hankinson (17th, 550cm). Howard also took home the coveted Mr Risky for his 85 net.
