VETERANS

LAST week, with the recent easing of COVID restrictions, the Sunraysia Veteran golfers travelled the long way to Robinvale to enjoy a social game.

Twenty-nine players consisting of a few locals and a couple of new members participated. Happily that included our second female player, Kath Cameron.

We hope to see them become regulars at future events.

Although it was not a competition, it seems that bragging rights probably belong to Paul Treacy and Terry Buckingham while Ken Upton and Greg McClure had great rounds as well.

Regular performers who also played well on the day included Doug and Bev Matthews, John Green, Keith Willis, Rod Gray, Keith Rogers, Ron Hall, Peter Knight, Rob Arnold, Doug Aikman and Kevin Jones.

Some great shots were made on the par threes with Peter Sinnott, Greg King, Brian Young, Peter Knight and Bev Matthews all landing close to the pins with their drives.

It was great to have an opportunity to play at Robinvale and pleasing that so many made the effort to travel down to play.

Our next scheduled date to hold a competition will be on Monday, October 4. We are prepared to hold a 4BBB Stableford game but whether that will become another social event or not is dependent on the government’s roadmap plan. All that we can do is be ready, turn up and enjoy Merbein’s hospitality next month.

Until then enjoy your golf, keep a safe social distance, obey COVID protocols and get that second vaccination. See you there.

Mr Risky also went to Hankinson with 88 net.
