LAST Wednesday’s Stableford event was won by Tom Crouch with 33 points from runner-up Terry Fitzpatrick on 31 points.
On Anzac Day a four-person Ambrose was played with a good number of teams entered. The winning team of Paul Mulder, Michael Thomson, David Timmis and Darren Mannix had a combined score of 55.875, easily accounting for the runner-up team of Matt Vining, Matt Dean and visitors Ned and Heather Clemm on 60.25.

VETERANS
Riverside Golf Club will host the Victorian Veteran Golfers Association Country Championships next week on Monday and Tuesday, with a field of 106 competitors registered for the two-day medley event.
The competition will be in three grades and the country champion will be the player with the best gross score over the 36 holes. This event has not been held in the district for more than 10 years, so it is an opportunity for locals to play in a Victorian association competition.
Sunraysia members are asked to wear their badge each day.
On Sunday, players are invited to compete in a medley Stableford competition. Contact the club for tee bookings. Green fees have been waived but there is a competition fee of $12. A barbecue will be available, and presentations will be held after completion of the event.
Players are reminded to be punctual each day as registration commences from 9.30am.
The Robinvale Golf Club will host the district vets event on Monday, May 13 for a 4BBB Stableford competition. Registration commences at 8.30am and a shotgun start is scheduled for 9.30am.

Winner of the veterans 18-hole Stableford event played on Monday, April 22 was Steve Scullino (13) with 42 points from runner-up Jeff Giddings (9) on 37 points. Third place went to Tony Dal Corobbo (27) on 36 points.

The women’s nine-hole Stableford played on Tuesday, April 23 was won by Rhonda Young (12) with 14 points from runner-up Janet Fumberger (34) on 13 points.
The women’s 18-hole winner was Bev Matthews (24) with 39 points from runner-up Dora Stewart (22) on a countback from Michelle Blair (25), both on 37 points.

The annual four-person Dockside Cafe medley Ambrose played on Anzac Day was won by the the team of Greg Love, Brenton Love, Jeremy Barnes and Ryan Mike on 54.875 net.
Runner-ups were Doug and Beverly Matthews, Jason O’Brien and Dennis Murray with 56 net. Third place went to Nick Katis, Michael Coghlan, Michelle Blair and Andrew Keogh with 56.125 net.

A Grade winner was Wade Hooper (scr) with 68 net from runner-up Robert Morgan (7) on 71 net. Third place went to Tom Crouch (10) on 72 net.
B Grade winner was Julian Maloney (15) with 69 net on a countback from runner-up Stephen Reberger (18). Third place went to Tony Beyen (19) on 71 net.
C Grade winner was Bruce Smythe (30) with 66 net from runner-up Jimmy Pippin on 67 net. Third place went to Geoff Dea (23) on 70 net.

ON Monday, April 22, Ivan McKenzie’s 30 points gave him the win in the veteran and friends Stableford competition.

It was nine holes and stroke for the ladies on Tuesday, April 23, and Adel Dal Corobbo marked up another win after a countback with Wendy Dawson, both on 37 net.

Wednesday was the ever popular par event played in two grades. Trevor Williams had the score of the day in A Grade with +2 followed by Peter Ellery on a countback with Ash Robinson, both on +1.

The nine-hole medley Stableford on Friday was won by Peter Gourlay on 20 points in front of Claude Dawson with 19 points.
On Saturday the women contested a stroke event and Tracey Bryan (97/76) put together the best back nine to take the win after a countback with Roylene Bailey (111/76).

On Saturday it was the Monthly Medal in three grades and Steve Wilmann (72/73) won A Grade from runner-up Ben Erskine on (87/74).
The B Grade medal was taken out by Ray Cottle (92/71) from Garry Swallow (88/72) in second place after a countback with Greg King (89/72).
Sometimes you just have a day out where you can’t do a thing wrong and that is exactly what Xavier Erskine did on Saturday, smashing not only C Grade and the field but picking up the round of the week with the best net score (97/64). Jerry Stephens slotted into second place on (96/74).

Cooper Mitchell took the win in A Grade on Sunday in the medley Stableford on 37 points. It was a three-way countback for runner-up, with Dallas Kalms snatching it and leaving Steve Batchelor and Kendall Marchment on the outer, all on 35 points.
There was some outstanding scores in B Grade, with Wayne Sievewright’s 42 points taking the win in front of Lachlan Highdale on 41 points.
