COUTURE was on the fast track for this year’s bet365 Mildura Cup, being run for the 100th time.
Entrants to Fashions on the Field competed for a prizepool worth more than $4000 of sponsored vouchers in four categories, hosted by former jockey and racing emcee Casey Bruce.
These included Lady of the Day, in recognition of traditional racewear, as well as Most Fashionable Racegoer for more current and modern attire.
There were additional awards for Millinery and Most Fashionable Man.
“The diversity of the fashion is what makes the event so much fun,” Bruce said.
“Everyone who came on stage today really put thought into their outfit.
“The beauty of it is that despite the cold, a lot of the girls wore the outfits they had planned.
“Power to them, sometimes you have to roll with the outfit you chose.”
All participants were awarded a $10 voucher each from Magnolia Beauty Bar and Stefano’s Cafe.
Angela Farley came runner-up in the Millinery category to Eliza Fraser, only to end up being crowned Lady of the Day, ahead of runner-up Barb Perry.
The Most Fashionable Man was Graham Walter, ahead of runner-up Darren Wilson.
Trinity Whitelum was awarded Most Fashionable Racegoer, with Carolynn Mihan presented with second place.
“The quality from the contestants has been fantastic,” Bruce said.
“Mildura’s fashion has really stood out.”
