Nothing new about catastrophic fires

IN reply to Russ Gittins (Sunraysia Daily, November 13), our fires today are not unusual or unprecedented at all.  Just check all the old fire records in the Trove archives and you’ll note much earlier dates (July, Aug­ust, et cetera) for extreme fires in the same areas. These occurred 50 to 70 years ago, or more. Neville Gardner,  Mildura
