WENTWORTH Shire Council has been awarded almost $40,000 to put towards outdoor fitness equipment in the town’s Junction Park.
The New South Wales Government this week allocated $350,000 from the third round of the Stronger Country Communities Fund for the Murray electorate.
More than 500 projects are being funded through the program and dedicated to almost 300 projects or programs that aim to benefit regional youth.
Nationals MLC Wes Fang said he was excited about the potential of the funded projects to enhance the lives of regional communities, especially young people.
Mr Fang said the government was backing projects that made a positive difference to everyday life.
“These projects are exactly the kind of projects the Stronger Country Community Fund round three was designed to deliver,” he said.
Minister for Mental Health and Regional Youth and Women Bronnie Taylor said the allocation would change the lives of young people living in the regions.
“Projects like this are crucial to ensuring young people can happily live, work and thrive where they live – right now and long into the future,” she said.
“It will make sure that no matter where young people live, they have opportunities to train and upskill, feel connected to their community and can easily and quickly access mental health support when they need it.”
