MILDURA has moved two wins clear at the top of the ladder with its 64-point drubbing of Irymple at City Oval on Saturday.
Having failed to take full toll of their dominant second quarter, the Demons really hit the gas from midway through the third, kicking the last eight goals of the game while holding the Swallows to just three behinds.
The game began in typically fierce fashion with plenty of pack-and-scrap in the opening term, but Mildura from the outset looked the superior force in creating chains of possession.
A couple of smart goals manufactured by youngster Kobe Brown out of broken play gave Mildura its early break, and it was only missed opportunities in front of goal from the Dees that saw the visitors within 19 points of the lead at half-time.
