Craig Beggs clash debated

THE intent of Mildura ruckman Craig Beggs in carelessly striking Robinvale/Euston’s Travis Bussell was the key point of debate at Monday night’s SFNL independent tribunal.

Beggs was handed a suspended one-game penalty after being found guilty.

At the hearing, it was not disputed that contact had been made and there was broad acceptance that Bussell had been injured as a result, but Beggs’ intent and whether the concussion was sustained from the contact or from hitting the ground were sticking points.

During the round 17 encounter between the sides on August 12, Bussell was stretchered from the ground and taken to hospital after contact to the left side of his face by Beggs, who was not reported at the time.
