Irymple star Nick Mee to face tribunal over tackle

IRYMPLE’S Nick Mee has been reported on a charge of rough conduct in a tackle on Merbein’s Sam Brinsmead and will face a tribunal hearing next week.

Mee was reported by field umpires Michael Breewel and Nathan Willis during the second quarter of Saturday’s match after bringing Brinsmead to the ground in a strong tackle.

SFNL executive officer Peter Walker said as Brinsmead was still in hospital and Irymple had a bye in round 7, the SFNL independent tribunal would adjudicate the matter on Wednesday, June 8.

Walker said Merbein officials requested the matter be presented before a tribunal.

Brinsmead lay on the ground for about three minutes after Mee’s tackle and was attended to by trainers from both clubs before being stretchered off the ground.

Red Cliffs’ Peter Tuifao will face the tribunal this week after he was charged by field umpire Philip Opie with “intentionally striking” Ouyen United’s Joel Monaghan.

Walker said Tuifao had requested the matter be presented before the tribunal.
