NINE local teams from Football Federation Sunraysia competed in the Football Victoria’s premier junior preseason tournament at Bendigo at the weekend.
Boys and Girls FC has become on of the biggest community events on the Victorian football calendar in recent years, and provides clubs with the perfect opportunity to sharpen their skills ahead of the upcoming season.
The competition matches are played as a round robin event as a seven versus seven, or nine versus nine format, depending on the age group, which encourages faster games and players can get on the ball and get involved.
The Under 14 boys finished second on the card in their round robin, which gave them the right to play in the semi finals.
It was a tight game in the semi final, with the scores locked at 1-1 at full time, before Sunraysia defeated South West 5-4 on penalties.
Playing Williams Landing in the grand final, Sunraysia secured a hard-fought win with the score 1-0 at full time.
The Sunraysia Under 14 girls team played off in the Plate grand final, defeating Darebin Falcons United 1-0.
