Robinvale keep wins rolling

ROBINVALE Euston claimed a statement victory over Ouyen United in a thrilling six-goal win at John James Oval, defeating the reigning premiers 58–52 in front of a vocal home crowd.

The Eagles came out with purpose, capitalising on early turnovers and bringing intense pressure across the court to take a 17–11 lead at the first break.

With belief driving them, the home side fed off the energy of their supporters to gain the early ascendancy.

Ouyen United responded strongly in the second quarter, with wing attack Megan Jardine orchestrating play through the mid-court and Catherine Brown asserting dominance in the shooting circle.

Despite a Kangas surge, Robinvale Euston managed to cling to a narrow 27–26 lead at half-time.

The third term proved a tight, goal-for-goal contest.

Jorja Delcastenge was a standout in defence for the Eagles, applying relentless pressure and creating key intercepts, while Brown continued her strong form in goal attack for the visitors.

The Eagles edged ahead once more, leading 40–38 at the final change.

With fresh legs injected into the mid-court through Carmen McMonnies, the Eagles lifted in the final quarter.

Delcastenge and Belle Giofrelle linked well through transition, finding shooters Sarah Hepburn (31 goals) and Georgia Giofrelle (27) with precision.

A critical seven-goal run gave Robinvale the breathing room they needed, and they held firm to record their second consecutive win.

Best on court for the Eagles were Georgia Giofrelle and Delcastenge, while Lexi Munro, just 13-years-old in her A Grade Debut, and Jardine stood tall for the Kangas.

The victory sees Robinvale Euston move to fifth on the ladder as they head into the bye, with growing momentum ahead of their upcoming clash with Wentworth.
