Tough conditions for tennis finalists

CONDITIONS were challenging for the winter tennis grand finals last Saturday but despite all the wind and rain, and the occasional bit of sunshine, all finals were completed.

Congratulations to all those that played in the adverse conditions.

It was great to see so many spectators at the courts cheering the teams on.

Division 1: Nichols Point Legends 5(63) def Red Cliffs Rebels 5(60); Aaron Wilkie 24/9 (Nichols Point), Lisa Hill 24/16 (Red Cliffs).

Division 2: Red Cliffs Racqueteers 6(64) def St Andrews Spartans 3(45); Karen Sharp 24/15 (Red Cliffs).

Division 3: Nichols Point Diamonds 5(57) def Nichols Point Stayers 4(46); Andy Tan 24/9.

Division 4: Wentworth Wascals 7(67) def Sacred Heart Aches 2(34); Paul McPherson 24/7, Fiona Cullinan 24/10 (Wentworth).Just a reminder to those who feel they are not finished with tennis yet that Mildura Lawn Tennis Club summer season starts on October 1, with the juniors playing in the afternoon with the seniors.

Official opening of the season will at 1pm with competition to start at 1.30pm followed by a barbecue tea.

The annual general meeting is on Saturday, October 8 at 1pm followed by competition play at 1.30pm. Juniors and Hot Shots will start at 8.30am.

There will be a “come and try” day on Saturday, October 15. Fun activities from 9am-11am. There will be a working bee on Sunday, September 25, from 9am.
